Forestdale Fathering Initiative
The Forestdale Fathering Initiative is a multi -faceted program designed to offer an array of services to young fathers in a supportive and culturally sensitive manner. These services will help men understand their roles and responsibilities as fathers, as well as assist them in the care of their children.
What services are available
- Rap sessions and peer support group for dads
- Parent education classes and fatherhood workshops
- Counseling and crisis intervention
- Information and referral to services
- Case management
- Computer access for employment search
Who can participate
- The program is open to all fathers from all ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds
Volunteers needed
- This program seeks men with extra time and interest in working with young fathers.
- Must be good listener and have a minimum of 1 hour per week to spend with a father.
- Orientation and training are part of the process.
- A one year commitment is asked when ready to match.
