Black History Month Continued

Black Americans’ quest for freedom, prosperity, and equality produced a new diversity of neighborhoods and industries, churches and movements, entrepreneurs and entertainers, and modern American music forms (i.e., ragtime, blues, and jazz), creating a richer tapestry in the fabric of history and American society.

The Great Migration exposed racial divisions and disparities that in many ways continue to plague the nation and dominate headlines today, from police killings of unarmed African-Americans to mass incarceration to widely documented biases in employment, housing, health care and education (Wilkerson, 2016).  For more information on Black History Month and Black migration, see:
