Re: Attachment and Bio behavioral Catch-up (ABC) Program
Dear Foster Parent:
Forestdale Inc. recognizes that your role as a foster parent is critical to the safety, healthy development, and promising trajectory of the child (ren) in your home. While we understand that you might have a full schedule, Forestdale expects you to engage in the ABC intervention as you seek the best interest of the children in your care.
If you accept children ages 6 months to 4 1/2 years of age, you are expected to participate in the ABC program; details of which are outlined below. Your involvement will help the children in your care overcome their history of trauma and develop healthy attachment to their caregivers, which directly impacts their present and future overall success.
Your role in the ABC intervention involves the following:
Completing an intake session to overview the program and complete an assessment.
Participating in 10 weekly in-home sessions which have been adapted to occur virtually due to COVID-19. Session times are set based on your availability and involve you, the child, and a designated Forestdale parent coach.
During each session, you will engage with the child and coach to create playful attachment opportunities. Upon completion of sessions 5 and 10 you will receive a $25 gift card as a “thank you” for your willing participation.
Should you currently have children under age 5 in your home, Forestdale representatives will be in touch with you to ensure participation in ABC. If you have any questions about the ABC program please don’t hesitate to ask.
Sincerely,
Linda Ford
