Share the Love. Become a Foster Parent.

Forestdale is looking for extraordinary people to provide temporary homes, guidance, and love to young people who cannot safely remain with their parents. Foster Parents give children and teens the emotional support they need to heal and thrive. At the same time, you work with Forestdale to help birth parents progress toward rebuilding their families. In most cases, foster children reunite with their birth parents; when it is not safe to do so, Forestdale will facilitate the adoption process.

To learn more about becoming a foster parent, please contact Forestdale’s Foster Parent Support & Recruitment Department at fosterparentrecruitment@forestdaleinc.org or 718-263-0740 x602.

What do Foster Parents Do?

Foster Parents provide children with a safe, nurturing, and caring home environment temporarily. There are many types of foster care, including traditional care, emergency/shelter care, medical/therapeutic care, relative/kinship care, respite/short-term care, and even tribal care. Foster parents serve as champions for the children in their care, helping them gain self-esteem, achieve in school, and acquire the life skills they need to lead fulfilling lives. If you love and understand children, you’ve already met many of our qualifications.

To become a foster parent in NYC (Queens and Brooklyn), don't hesitate to contact us at fosterparentrecruitment@forestdaleinc.org or 718-263-0740 ext. 602.

Respite Foster Care

Forestdale, Inc. is seeking to certify Foster Parents to offer Respite Care. As a respite foster parent, you will take short-term, temporary placements of children. The children can remain with you on a short-term basis. Respite Foster Parents assist the child’s regular foster parent with time away from their foster-related duties (i.e., vacation, business trips, non-routine chores, etc.). The certification processes for a Respite Foster Parent and a general Foster Parent are the same. To express interest, please text 914-898-3155 or e-mail lpharr@forestdaleinc.org.
